The 2009 Porsche 911 Turbo sits at a pivotal point in the 911’s history by ushering in a new era of technology and performance over the 996 generation but also regarded as one of the last “analog” Turbo’s with its 3.6L Mezger engine and optional 6-speed transmission. An option this particular example fortunately has.
The 997 Turbo debuted in 2006, notably becoming the first production gasoline car to use variable turbine geometry turbochargers—technology that improved both low-end response and high-end power. By 2009, the outgoing 997.1 Turbo retained its motorsport-derived 3.6-liter “Mezger” flat-six engine, widely regarded as one of Porsche’s most robust designs due to its roots in endurance racing. That same year also marked the introduction of the facelifted 997.2 Turbo which brought a new 3.8-liter direct-injection engine and modern features like the PDK dual-clutch transmission, signaling a shift toward greater refinement and efficiency. As a result, the 2009 model year is often seen as the final iteration of the more “analog” Turbo before Porsche moved fully into a more digital, high-tech era and is currently a highly sought after vehicle by collectors and enthusiasts.
This particular 2009 997.1 Turbo has seen a fair amount of choice modifications that has not only increased power over the stock 480 hp, but has improved handling and longevity. The full list of modifications is below but the seller estimates the engine is currently producing 600-650 hp, delivered to all four wheels via a highly desirable 6-speed transmission.
Originally delivered to McKenna Porsche in Norwalk, CA, this 997.1 Turbo was optioned with notable features from the factory, including Brown Natural Leather, Sport Chrono Package, and a Rear Window Wiper and has seen multiple upgrades with OEM parts such as the Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes (PCCB) and Porsche Center Locks, options not available on the 997.1 Turbo.
