The 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 traces its roots back to the revival of the Shelby nameplate in 2007, when Carroll Shelby partnered again with Ford Motor Company to create a modern interpretation of the legendary 1960s GT500. Built during the retro-inspired S197 Mustang era, the 2008 model carried over the same core formula as its debut year: a high-performance muscle car blending classic styling cues with contemporary engineering. It stood out with aggressive design elements like dual racing stripes, a functional hood scoop, and Cobra badging, all paying homage to the original Shelby Mustangs while appealing to a new generation of enthusiasts. The GT500 also represented Ford’s answer to the growing horsepower wars of the mid-2000s, competing with rivals by delivering supercar-level power in a relatively accessible package.

Under the hood, the 2008 GT500 is equipped with a supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC V8 engine producing 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, paired with a Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential, enabling strong acceleration with 0–60 mph times in the mid-4-second range. The car features a performance-tuned suspension with a MacPherson strut front setup and a solid rear axle, along with large Brembo brakes for improved stopping capability. Additional specs include 18-inch aluminum wheels, performance tires, and a curb weight of just over 3,900 pounds. Inside, it offers sport-focused amenities such as leather-trimmed seats, a boost gauge, and a Shaker 500 audio system, combining muscle car performance with a degree of everyday comfort.

This particular example is currently offered by the founder of Mint Motoring and has been used as a weekend driver since August 2024. It was purchased from a dealership in Phoenix, AZ and was originally owned in Texas. It is completely stock and is finished in black over a black leather interior and features silver racing stripes running over the top and sides of the body. The car is mechanically flawless and runs and drives amazingly with routine service completed once every 2,500 miles since taking ownership (next oil change due at 57,500 miles). Fresh tires, brake pads, rotors, suspension components, and window regulators were installed by the selling dealership at about 49,000 miles.
